OUR GARDEN AND OUR FOOD
The garden around the two stone cottages are, depending on the time of year, full of home produce; vegetables, fruits and flowers in abundance.
But the fertility of the rich loamy soil does not end there. The perimeter of the land is deeply wooded and often brimming with wild fungi, herbs and the most beautiful endemic species of orchids.
Throughout the year the garden moves with the seasons….
Our cooking skills are put to good use feeding our guests and teaching them about some of the more uncommon Turkish recipes, which are seldom if ever seen on the tables of restaurants in the tourist resorts.
Most of the condiments served at mealtimes are homemade using the products of our garden which we are growing and the products of the woodland (wild mushrooms and wild vegetables) or bought locally from neighbouring farms or from local bazaar. The milk (cow or goat ) is being supplied from the village people (wild mushroom cooks).
Here at Dikencik we can offer catering if you don’t want to bring all your food with you. There are a range of freshly cooked homemade meals that we can prepare from whatever we have in the garden; whether it be a hearty home cooked breakfast, or an evening meal.
